Invest in Our People

Invest in Our People

I joined the company in 1995 and, during my 20 years, I’ve seen many changes – we sent faxes and letters, made phone calls and used wall planners to organise our workload. Now, like almost all businesses, we communicate via email, have online diaries and Internet browsing is second nature. Faces have also changed but the one thing that’s remained consistent is the fact that 20/20 Productions is a great company to work for.

Why so?

To my mind, it’s because we embrace change - in our fast-paced, ever-changing industry we’d have disappeared a long time ago if we’d stood still. But it’s not just been the investment in technology that has made the company go from strength to strength, it’s been investing in our people.

In 1998, 20/20 Productions started our Investors in People journey, gaining IIP status in 1999. We’re extremely proud of the fact that we’ve been successfully reassessed ever since.

Why Investors in People?

As we began to expand and develop a fantastic team of creatives, we realised we were all great at what we did but our communication needed improving – we needed the best of both worlds. We had to channel the energy and enthusiasm within the team. Everyone needed to see how much of a contribution they were making and clients needed to see the investment we were making in our people.

It was at a networking event we were made aware of the IIP Accreditation, what it was and what we could gain from signing up. We came together as a team to talk about the potential benefits going forward, and decided to take the plunge…

Has it been worth it?

I think it’s fair to say that when we began our journey there were many aspects to attaining the status that took us out of our comfort zone because it made us think differently. We were adopting practices that had previously been alien – SWOT analyses and SMART goals, for instance but we were supported every step of the way.

We’ve gained a huge amount from our IIP journey thus far and, we’re still learning. Since accreditation, the support we’ve received from IIP hasn’t dwindled. Our mentors have spent time digging deeper to discover what each of us bring to the table and help enhance practices to get the very best from everyone so we continue to develop not only as individuals but as a business.

As the IIP assessment criteria continues to evolve, we do the same - embracing the ethos, coming together as the right fit, stretching creativity, and striving for continued success.

We’ve all seen (and continue to see) the many benefits, but in particular our own internal comms - after all communication is key. Let’s face it; it would be ironic if we didn’t practice what we preach!
